Comfrey, Russian ‘Bocking 4′ – Symphytum x uplandicum

Comfrey, Russian ‘Bocking 4′ – Symphytum x uplandicum

Perennial from zone 4-9. Seedless variety that will stay contained (as long as it’s not tilled). Good fodder/feed plant for pigs and poultry. Has good concentration of protein. Rust-resistant. A natural hybrid between Symphytum officinale and Symphytum asperum. Attracts pollinators. Dynamic nutrient accumulator. Great fertilizer plant for mining nutrients and feeding other plants. Plant next to fruit trees as a “Chop-and-drop” plant; cut plant back multiple times in season and mulch fruit trees or other plants with the stem and leaves. Plant can also be added to compost, or put in water for a few weeks, diluted, and used to fertilize plants. Use as compress for wounds.
