Chives - Allium schoenoprasum

Perennial from zone 3-9. An essential low-maintenance plant for every herb garden. Very easy to grow. Cut soft greens and use for onion taste in soups, pastas, salads and other dishes. Produces attractive edible pink flowers, which also make a good garnish for salads. Makes a good companion plant for fruit trees or other guilds because of its antibacterial, fungicidal, and insect-repellent properties.

Soil: Prefers medium to moist soils; Sandy, loamy, or clay.

Sun: Full to partial sun.
