Tansy – Tanacetum vulgare

Tansy – Tanacetum vulgare

Perennial to zone 4. Grows to about 1 meter. Attractive ornamental similar to yarrow but with yellow flowers. The plant is said to repel ants, moths, flies, fleas, Japanese beetles, and squash bugs. Tansy concentrates potassium in the soil and some sources say that it is a good companion plant to apple trees and other fruit trees in order to prevent fungal diseases and insect damage. A valuable addition to the compost or fertilizer for its mineral content and anti-fungal/insecticide properties.
